I made another layout in my moleskine!!!

I was totally inspired by a paper I found at the PortraitBug which is a scrapbooking store on the UWS. The store is small and cute and it doesn’t have a large amount of paper but that’s probably better for me, less distractions and decisions that need to be made!!! The paper is made by Graphic 45 and the collection is called “On The Boardwalk”.

Overview

I cut out some of the vintage looking beach babes from the paper because the paper overall was kind of busy. I just really wanted the vintage-y feel. Some details:

It’s a really simple layout but it was fun, a no brainer, and at least I created something! Yay for making ART!

Sew Anyway…

I signed up for an online sewing class called “Home Ec”. My mom found it through a site called Freckled Nest which can be found here: http://frecklednest.blogspot.com/ . You can take each project at your own pace which is nice because then there is no pressure or deadlines. I don’t always work well under pressure!

My mom bought me a sewing machine months ago and I haven’t done anything with it until the other day when I finally took it out of the box!!! Here it is:

Today I want to a store called The City Quilter and bought fabrics for the first 3 projects in the class.

The first project is cloth napkins and I needed 4 corresponding fabrics:

The second project is a Gift Pouch. I needed 2 different fabrics:

And the third project is a reusable bag for groceries and such! I just needed one fabric for this:

Now I had been to fabric stores before but it was so overwhelming when I actually had to pick out fabrics and match them too each other! I didn’t know what to do with myself and I think I could have stayed there for hours!

I also bought some pins, a seam ripper and some all purpose black and white thread!

The class officially starts on Tuesday and I’m excited!!! Hopefully I won’t get too frustrated! I will post some pics of completed projects as soon as I can!!!

YAY!!! My Mom was here earlier in the week and she helped me to set up a new organization system in my little art area! It is much better organized and much easier for me to see what goodies I have to work with.

So it’s been a long time since I posted anything! Life has a way of running away from me sometimes!!! Anywhoo….

Got my first moleskine! Here’s the completed first page:

I originally saw the quote at the Ink Pad art class with Julie Balzer and I stole it!

Just a close up of the quote. I think this book will just be a practice type of book for different techniques and a lot of learning! I will try to post pics of my work good or bad!
